Restaurant and Food Photography
Restaurant and food photography can be some of the most challenging work that I do, but it can also be the most pleasurable. When photographing a restaurant, whether it’s for advertising, a website, or an editorial story for a travel magazine or lifestyle magazine, the ambiance and character of the restaurant or bar is what you’re trying to capture. If food photography is involved, it must be mouth-watering and beautiful. While the chefs are generally great at preparing and presenting their dishes, it can be a little different when photographing it. When a food stylist is on-hand, the photographers job can be made so much easier, as they understand how the food will look in-camera. But when shooting a restaurant, they aren’t always available. Regardless of who is involved with the food photography at a restaurant, you just can’t let the food go to waste after you get the shot – this is where the pleasurable part comes in. Below are some outtakes from a recent photo shoot I did for a restaurant.
